OverviewFemale Alpine Adventurer
After a long international career as a swimmer and professional triathlete Michelle moved into the world of adventure racing in 2000 and has been competing at an international level ever since. After taking part in the World Championships in 2000 in the beautiful province of Lijang, China, Michelle became hooked on adventure travel. This saw the start of her life journey into the world of multisport racing and mountain based adventure that has taken her to some of the most remote parts of Asia.
After racing for many years with men, Michelle went on to set up an all women race team to race against, and challenge, the mixed team format often found in adventure racing. Michelle’s all female team went on to win the Asian adventure race series for 4 years running. Michelle is now well known for her passion in encouraging and inspiring women into the world of adventure based sport.
In recent years Michelle has spent more time focusing on her other passion of ski mountaineering and ski adventure as she looks to challenge herself and further explore the mountains she loves. Balancing a hectic career in marketing, Michelle spends much of her spare time in the Alps where she can be found skiing, touring and climbing some of the beautiful steep peaks of the Chamonix valley in France.
In April 2014 Michelle took on one of the most amazing adventure of her life to date, teaming up with her boyfriend Ross Hewitt and 2 friends they headed to the freezing Baffin Island in Canada for one month, skiing new lines and steep couloirs at temperatures reaching -35 degrees.
