Profile
Alastair Lee
Leading film maker and photographer
Alastair’s passion for the mountains means he has spent most of his adult life pursuing rocks and mountains around the world, producing superb photography and innovative film work .
Alastair's brand of stunning action, slick editing and trademark humour have made his films a big hit at festivals around the globe, earning him over 30 international film making awards.
Alastair captured every moment of Berghaus sponsored athlete Leo Houlding’s ambitious expedition to make the first free ascent of Mount Asgard's daunting north face, which he turned in to the stunning film ' The Asgard Project '.
The Asgard Project now boasts an impressive collection of awards including: People’s Choice award (Kendal Mountain Festival), Best Feature (LLAMFF), People’s Choice award (Sheffield Adventure Film Festival), Best Mountaineering Film (International Mountain Film Festival, Slovenia) and most recently Best Climbing Film at the 2010 Banff Mountain Film Festival.
In 2010 Alastair captured Leo’s latest conquest, the award-winning Prophet film all about his epic new route on El Capitan. The Prophet features on the Psyche II DVD, along with Leo’s successful ascent of the formidable Oceans of Fear route. Most recently he captured Leo's first ascent of the east face of Cerro Autana (1400m), one of the Amazon’s most remote and sacred mountains. A film about the expedition is now in production and will be released in September 2012. ‘Autana – first ascent in the lost world’ will tell the story of the expedition and include footage of some of the very rarely seen locations that the team visited.
We’re really looking forward to working with Alastair – we’re sure his stunning film making and photography and our athletes will make a great combination.
