Our business is all about the outdoors. So we make it our business to look after it. That’s why we’re always searching for new ways of working to reduce the footprint we leave on the environment. Not just in making and packaging our products, but what we do wearing them – whether climbing, kayaking, skiing or even just walking.
So we train and encourage the people who work for us to think ‘green’ and to tell us how we could do things better. And we don’t just think local, but global, supporting ventures across the world.
During 2006 Berghaus have introduced a new footwear box design consisting of 100% recycled cardboard incorporating a large recycle logo.
At Berghaus we continue to try and help the environment by installing a collection point so that our staff can recycle all their used batteries from work and home.
A team of Berghaus volunteers took time out to spend two days volunteering for the John Muir Trust in June 2006
Part of our water saving initiative has been to install Hippo water displacement bags into the cisterns of all our washrooms on site. This simple measure has resulted in significant savings for the environment and our water and sewage bills.
This was our forth Green Commuter Week. The purpose of the activity was to get Berghaus employees car sharing, bike riding, using public transport and walking to work and so reduce their carbon emissions.
