A different Dragons Back…

Last week Sir Chris Bonington visited Hong Kong where he joined the Berghaus Asia team for a hike over the Dragons Back ridge on the South East side of Hong Kong Island. The trek was very fitting as it tied in perfectly with the Dragon’s Back Race which took place in Wales at the beginning of September and was sponsored by Berghaus.

Sir Chris was joined by around 30 members of the Berghaus Asia team and representatives from the media. The hike was split into 2 groups with one group taking a steep route over the top of the ridge and the other taking a lower route. The team trekked through bamboo groves and woodland and got to see some amazing views over Hong Kong’s coast. There was also some added adventure when a pit viper snake was spotted crossing the trail ahead.

Whilst in Hong Kong Chris also gave a talk entitled  ‘Boundless Horizons’ at the Royal Geographic Society, where a captivated audience of around 400 people listened to his tales of adventure from around the globe.
