Rob Jarman: Another Record for Rob (30/06/2008)

Sponsored Athlete, Rob Jarman, has become the first person to ride a mountain bike over a slackline, suspended 40ft in the air.

The mountain bike professional, training to become a stuntman, completed the daring stunt on his 1st attempt.  Rob is constantly seeking new and exciting adrenaline filled record attempts on a bike.

When the idea first came around, Rob, like the rest of us thought that the feat was impossible; however he managed to surprise himself.

Rob said:  “As soon as I got to the other side of the slackline I looked back and couldn’t believe I completed it first time.  It was a bit of a daunting task because I was pretty high up and I knew if I fell I would either hit the wall or my bike would swing straight into me, which eventually happened!.”

The morning prior to the attempt, a slackline was set up for a trial run,  however he used a line that was low to the ground to check if it would be possible, and managed to clear it in full.

“I had not tried to ride on the tape before so I thought it would be best to try on a lower line to start then move on to the higher one, but because the rock was quite uneven it was difficult to set up and it was impossible to get the slackline completely straight so it made it more difficult to ride a bike over.”

Rob’s new project is set to hit the record books too, with one land speed record under his belt already; he plans to set a new one… on a folding bike.  To keep track of his latest project, check out his blog under the ‘Our Team’ section of the website.
