Sorry for being absent for a few months, I’ve been flat out! Lots of stunt work, biking and running.

I was involved in the recent Eastenders car explosion where we crashed a Jag into a shop which then exploded. It was great fun!

The new Berghaus TV advert seems to have been a massive hit, I saw it at the cinema before the new Bond film, if you haven’t seen it you can watch it here:

Click here to view the embedded video.

Al Lee’s Autana film has been a major success too, best of luck to them in Antarctica over Xmas and New Year. Its cold enough for me in Pateley Bridge!

I have also been out shooting with MBUK magazines completing the ‘voodoo challenge’ features. This is the latest one from Ireland. We have just shot one in Fort William which should be online soon and in the next magazine.

Click here to view the embedded video.

I have also been busy training hard to build up my ultra running distance. I organised a race in Pateley Bridge on the 1st of December called the Frostbite 30. 30 miles of ice and hardcore trail. The 60 runners that turned up seemed to enjoy it, especially the homemade cakes and pork pies afterwards.

It was an awesome day with great people and friends. Great to see the likes of Jon Steele from the Hardmoors events www.hardmoors110.org.uk and Vicci Mousley from www.9bar.com.

Congrats to the finishers and the top three in each class and a special mention to my brother Tim and Vikki for winning the team category!

Fingers crossed for a few months off now so I can crack on with some training and get some plans nailed down for biking events and expeditions for next year.

Just returned from one of the best events of the year, the Fort William 6 hour downhill endurance race.

It all started with a Le Mans style start, where riders run half a mile up a hill to find their bikes. Then its a further 15 minutes of climbing on the bikes, to split the men from the boys, until we finally reach the lower 1/4 of the DH course. From there on its 6 hours of downhill racing. Well that’s if you don’t break yourself or even worse your bike!

Being in the senior men’s category amongst some of the latest elite riders, I was hoping for a possible top ten. My race plan was to set off steady on the run and once on the bike try and pull a few places back so that by the time I’m onto the first DH run I’m somewhere near the top group.

So as the start pistol fired I somehow found myself in third, the pace wasn’t exactly what I was expecting, maybe they knew something I didn’t! They did! By the time I got to my bike I was amazed by how steep the climb looked and how bad my downhill bike was at going up hill! 1st and 2nd positions were on a mission to kill each other so I left them to it and dropped back a few places into 5th to try and catch a few breaths, whilst keeping the front few in my sights.

The downhill track couldn’t have come any sooner, but it was no rest. Fort William is one of the roughest tracks on the World cup circuit and it eats up tired arms and legs for fun. Luckily I wasn’t alone as we all made our way down like a bunch of first time mountain bikers. Over the next six hours I managed to complete 15 runs back to back without any stops or mechanicals. To put it into reality and average UK downhiller would need at least one stop half way down the track to rest his/her arms due to the relentless pounding from the rocks and drops. Its high speed, its steep and its as rough as a bears arse from top to bottom.

By half time there were riders scattered everywhere with broken bikes, punctures and broken collarbones, it was like a war zone!

At this point I could no longer feel my arms at all and the only thing that was griping me to the bike was my clip in pedals and my knees clamping like a vice to either side of the saddle. It was pain like id never experienced before!

Slowly but surely I was making progress and before I knew it I was in a podium position. The front two were still trying to kill each other within view and I just left them to it knowing that eventually one of them would come unstuck.

My predictions were right! On the penultimate lap one of them destroyed their back wheels and the bike stopped in its tracks leaving the door wide open for me to cruise past and into 2nd place, “thank you!”

With only one more run to do I was never going to make up the time to compete for the number one spot and I’m not the kind of sportsman that would pray for them to have a serious mechanical or injury but funnily enough it did start raining!

One run later I crossed the finish line to take 2nd place. I was an amazed and broken man, what an event!

Not far behind me (not that I was constantly checking over my shoulder) was my team mate Rachael Walker, who dominated the Senior girls race from start to finish having completed 13 runs in the 6 hours. A great achievement for her considering it was her first event back after a broken wrist.

Check out the review for more info.

Roll on the next race!

Also check out my Olympic torch shot from Eastenders, not exactly a stunt day, but it will pay for all my future pains.

Some crazy fools do the lot solo (big respect) but as its our first attempt we decided to run it as a four man/girl team, Me, Ben Whitehead, Rachael Walker and Vikki Butler.

We started at 6.00pm friday evening and ran through the night to finish Saturday lunchtime. It was epic!

With no sleep and very little experience we managed to finish second in the teams and completed the entire loop in 20 hours.

This is just the start! Now im affraid we are hooked and we want more! The next event is a 60 miler in September. Once our shins and ankles are weight bearing we will be back in the hills for more training.

…………………well it was!

Iv fallen back into my love affair of racing downhill again. I have just returned from a trip in Slovenia racing their national cup series and placed first in my class. It was an awesome event!! Over 3 minutes and an average of 40 kph top to bottom. There were some big old jumps that took some major casualties on race day, 4 broken legs to count.

The following weekend I was back home in the UK racing in the Scottish national series and placed second. I was pretty happy with the result but fell foul to lack of track knowledge and wasnt exactly sure of my lines, even on my race run, but I managed to string a good enough run together.

My next race is a British national at Fort William and then back up there again the following weekend for another national at Glen Coe, may even stop up if work is quiet!!

As for work, the GYM JARMAN world is taking off! I have a good bunch of regular athletes and clients that im pushing to the max pretty regularly. I have been helping Jack Sheppard, youth World trials champion get back to fitness after injury, 5 months off the bike and surgery. He has his first world round coming up this weekend, good luck Jack!

I also just want to give a big congrats to one of my Ilkley girls Lyndsay Doyle who spewed up in training the other week and then told me to get F**ked! Now thats what I want to see from my girls!! Good anger and awesome effort!

My own training is going great, I have a few big comps coming up this summer including the European DH championships and the 110 Hradmoors ultra marathon so I need to get on it! Im doing lots of gym and speed work at the moment to help on the bike and using my PT work to get some good miles out on the fells.

Back to training, see you later

After over 5 months of recovery, rehab and training my doctor has at last signed me off.

Ready to do damage all over again (fingers crossed)

With a year full of events such as of racing downhill for Hope, the Mega avalanche, the Hardmoors ultra events and whatever Berghaus has to throw at me, im pretty sure I’ll be back to visit him again soon.

Oh and not forgetting my real job, stunt work. Thats a broken arm, collarbone, shoulder blade, left ribs (twice), lung bleed, brain bleed, 3 KO’s and a detached retina all in 18 months! only 30 years until I can retire!

I have just returned from shooting the last Voodoo Challenge for Halfords and MBUK magazine. This last epic was based at Honister slate mines in the lakes.

The idea was to climb up the Via Ferrata with my bike on my back and then race back down, Man V Mountain and all that!

The feature will run in the mag next month and there will be a short video running on YouTube pretty soon, I’ll get the link added next time.

I would just like to say a big thanks to Jan, Joe and Barry at Honister for looking after us on the shoot and helping out in every way possible.

The new routes on the Via Ferrata are great fun and a real challenge for all levels of climbers and adventurers, ill be back with a bunch of mates asap.

Been pretty busy with the stunt work too, having worked on Spooks, Sherlock Holmes, Misfits and Batman over the last month. I’m looking forward to some quiet time so I can get practising on the bike for the Erzberg enduro at the end of the month; hope it’s not as hard as last year…..

Oh and the camper van has just gone in to get fitted, 4 weeks and I’m road tripping!!!!

Summer is here and I’m currently sat with my feet up sipping at air with a big lump on my left hand side after being run over by a motorbike.

(I’m number 21 in the above picture before I got taken down and run over).

Luckily its just a few cracked ribs and bruised internals and the good new is that I can keep my spleen!! Yippeee!!

I’m planning on being back on the bike next week and fingers crossed ill be out racing by the weekend, just don’t tell my mum!!!

Work wise, I have just come off a 2 month stint on the new Aliens film doubling for the android, which was good fun.

Now the summer is here, I’m thinking of ignoring the work calls and going off on some biking adventures. I’m sending my van in for a refurb in June and when it comes back it will be a full blown VW camper van ready for anything, so I’ll be heading straight to the alps in it!

I’m heading up to Fort William for a week of biking and trekking in a few weeks time so hopefully i will be fully fit for then.

In the meantime, check out some of the latest from MBUK

Just returned from an MBUK shoot with the Royal Marine Commandos down at their base on the Jurrasic coast.

It was a race on foot, boat and bike organised for me by the marines themselves. Lets just say they like to play to their home strengths!!!!

Plenty of assault course action, my favourite part being the endurance course! Lots of river crossings and tunnel sumping, it was great fun!!

A video should be running online soon and expect to see the feature in MBUK magazine over the next coming months.

Check out this one from Morocco in the mean time! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIIaZTuqp_U

Check out this great video from Rob who has recently returned from a photo shoot trip to Morocco to launch the new 2011 Voodoo bike range from his latest bike sponsor. During the trip Rob also shot a feature for MBUK magazine where he rode from the top of the Atlas Mountains to Marrakesh travelling through 90k’s of mountain single track, desert flat lands and urban back streets.

I’ve just returned from a photo shoot trip to Morocco, first time I have been out there, what a weird and wonderful place. The riding was amazing, especially up in the Atlas mountains. The culture was a bit of an eye opener, but the people were very welcoming and friendly, it was an amazing experience!

The reason for the trip was to launch the new 2011 Voodoo bike range (my latest bike sponsor). We did a couple of days of photo shoots for the new catalogue and then met up with some UK bike journo’s to introduce them to the new bikes and shoot some features. On the last day I shot a feature for MBUK magazine doing a ride from the top of the Atlas Mountains to Marrakesh, 90k’s of mountain single track, desert flat lands and urban back streets. It was a great days riding and should make an interesting read in the January edition of MBUK, check it out!

From now till Xmas, well I was planning a good 6 weeks of chilling out, training hard and enjoying myself, but iv just had a call for a job on the new X-Men film, so its back to London for a few weeks..Roll on the festive season!!
