Good but unacceptably compromised - could have been much better
I have a 20 year old Berghaus 3-in-1 jacket to which I’m devoted, but it’s almost worn out. I hoped this jacket would be a worthy successor. Positive points: it’s slightly longer than my old jacket, so better for sitting on damp surfaces mid-walk - and the all-important Velcro sleeve fasteners are present. Negative points: there is no chest pocket to stow my mobile phone - really? these days?? My old jacket had one 20 years ago….but the most short-sighted omission is that of the 2-way zip, especially as the jacket is of a longer length. Had the specifications mentioned this online it might have been a deal-breaker. I’m not impressed by this omission - it makes an enormous, negative difference to the functionality of the jacket and can’t have contributed much to the manufacturing costs of the jacket. Berghaus please take note!

OK jacket, but will stick with my usual brand next time
The jacket is decent, I like the longer length and the pockets are so nice and deep. I appreciate the pocket cover to stop rain going in the pocket. It's a good waterproof. However, there are no inner pockets which I didn't realise beforehand, this takes away slightly from the nice big outside pockets. The jacket doesn't feel as warm as my previous 3in1 jacket by the other big outdoor brand with similar pricing. The brushed cotton triangle doesn't even cover half of the zip it's supposed to, so it's irritating to have the metal rubbing against you. Finally, I want want say it does it job at keeping me dry, but in future I will probably will stick to my previous brand which has done me well over the years (tNF).
