Excellent ultralight pack for a bargain price
5 out of 5 stars
This is a really solid ultralight pack that undercuts all it's competitors (both in the uk and abroad) in terms of pricing and value for money. The fit and finish is great, this works as a daypack for heavier loadouts (camera gear etc) or can be used for 1 night backpacking trips with a light baseweight (~5kg). The pack has no real frame or weight transfer to the hips but the load line adjusters on the top mean you can get the weight to sit flat and securely against your back rather than handing off like some other minimalist packs. The ventilation (especially with the ventilated foam padding) is good, I removed this for another 60g weight saving. I store a 2.5l water container in the bladder compartment and it works quite well for forming a bit of structure. The pack is not waterproof but is very water resistant thanks to the rolltop. I decided to seam seal mine with silnet and not it is very close to waterproof. A few changes I think Berghaus could make to update this for 2023 (they should imo. the fundamentals are great) 1: Larger stretch pockets on the hip belt and shoulders (they are fairly small) 2: Swap some of the 100d nylon for lighter and more water resistant materials (50d silnylon maybe) 3: Add a stretch pocket to the back similar to the one of the 45 model In summary, a cheap and really underrated pack that with a few updates and improvements could make the perfect value friendly ultralight pack.

Since hiking a bit over 2500 km on the PCT with a 65L Osprey Atmos, after that moving on to a Levity and now to this I have managed to lighten my load quite a bit. I currently carry a 4.9kg baseweight and have fit 3 days (8.8kg) and could probably fit an aditional 2 days of food inside this pack. I love the two front pockets in which I keep a 500ml standard PET bottle and in the other one my rather bulky OP 7 Pro (if charging with a 10000mAh powerbank). I really like the way it rides on the back and the many options to adjust the shoulder straps and and hipbelt to shift around the load from one point to an other and even be able to run rather comfortably if I feel like it. One thing I did not foresee but made hiking for me a lot more enjoyable was having a pack that does not pertrude far over my schoulders. It made me feel a lot more relaxed and free to move.. I would like to have a botom pocket to quikly grab and stow away a jacket or other little things while moving.
