Replacement boots

I had a problem with a pair of boots I had a few months back after making contact and following their instructions I obtained a credit note for the original price of the boots, no quibble and they were very quick. I used the credit note to buy a new pair of Berghaus explorer trex gtx boots that are great service and boots highly recommended

Waterproof - fail!

Bought a pair of these 2 years ago, right boot leaked like a sieve from day 1, left boot was waterproof. They were replaced under warranty and the replacements were intially much better, however the right boot gradually leaked more and more and then the left boot also started to leak. Today I've decided enough is enough after 10 minutes of walking in wet grass and getting soaking feet. Not happy as they weren't cheap and I've hardly worn them.

Wet feet

Moved back home to Scotland and got a dog so decided to get a good pair of boots for walking. I was of the opinion that Berghaus were the leading outdoor supplier so went for these boots. I have used Gortex boots in the army and police. I always found them waterproof and fitting was great. These boots fitted like a glove and are realy comfortable so 3 stars are bang on however the first real walk in the good Scottish liquid sunshine and my feet were wet about 10 min in to the walk. They are advertised as waterproof but not these ones pity as they are well comfortable, so if you want dry feet don't go for these boots.

Trek gtx boots

Straight out of box 10 miles with no problems in dry conditions. Went again in wet weather let down as I got wet feet going into wet long grass so not guaranteed waterproof 🙄

on 2nd pair

I have been through 2 pairs of these within a year with completely different problems with each of them what lead to boot failure. All of my other kit is Berghaus and I haven't had a problem with it . Only these, but in fairness Berghaus honored their warranty and replaced the first pair with no questions and the second pair are back with them waiting to find out if they're getting repaired or replaced.

Are these boots good enough for walking and tracking

The boots look good and are very waterproof. I've walked through large puddles in these and they keep your feet very dry. I purchased these for walking my dog across the fields and through the woods and they are comfortable. Seem to breath very well with their Goretex technical abilities with no wet socks to date. The laces can be a little tricky fastening up but overall this is not too much of any issue for me. I would have liked to have seen a higher layer of boot above the tongue as it seems slightly odd that the tongue has gaps down each side which could allow water ingress if I waded through a small stream/brook or similar. I would also recommend wearing these in as they did cause some discomfort when I first started wearing them, but they now appear to be comfortable with no irritation, pressure or rubbing encountered after about half a dozen outings. These should also make good hiking/trecking boots if you participate in these activities.
