Whilst all else about these boots and this order would seem flawless, sadly I can't account for the quality of the boots as, despite ordering the correct shoe size, I can't get them on my feet! I have broad feet and a high instep and so I need lace-ups to open sufficiently so I can get shoes and boots on. My previous Berghaus boots (in the same shoe size), lasted for years and were extremely comfortable. This style of walking boot has an integral 'sock', which, in spite of the pull loops and elastic top, didn't create the aperture that a freely opening boot would. So, I had to send them back...

Lovely sole, liked the colour, just what I hoped for. Due to a problem bending my foot I couldn't get the boot on my foot. Not a fault with the boot. I did like the knitted tongue which I hoped would work but my foot just doesn't bend enough.

I have had other Berghaus shoes in the past and loved them. These ones are well made, but there is a design flaw with the whole inbuilt ridiculously tight sock thing. Its a nightmare to put on, and i thought it would get easier once i have broken them in, but nope. Its stuck to the shoe and its not comfortable at all. I wish i could return them as i would not be wearing them. They also rub on the outside ankle area. I bought my usual size.
