International Women’s Day

Shrink it and pink it in bold letters has all been struck through

This year’s theme for International Women’s Day is #ChoosetoChallenge.

From day one, challenge has always been our thing. Because from challenge comes change. And with change comes progress.

Today we thought we’d dedicate this post to the women in our Berghaus family who continue to challenge every day. Smashing stereotypes, pushing boundaries, and breaking down barriers. We’re committed to finding ways to make the outdoors a better place for all women everywhere.

We’ve chatted to some of the amazing women from the Berghaus clan that we are proud to work with. Scroll down to read their stories and what it means to be a woman in the outdoors.

This is Anna Taylor, she is one of our brand athletes. She’s a climber and lover of all things adventure a quick nosey at her latest blog post ‘Climbing Against the Clock in Costa Rica’ will give you a flavour of Anna’s taste for exploration

Founder of Black Girls Hike and Berghaus ambassador, Rhiane Fatinikun has created a community that provides a safe space for Black women to explore the outdoors. Her community has gathered more than 10,000 people and we’re committed to supporting her to keep building her essential BGH platform

Meet Demi, she is our Product Manager for Women’s apparel. Making sure we’re building products that suit the needs of women is a massive passion of Demi’s – when she’s not conjuring up new ideas, she keeps her ear to the ground running surveys and focus groups.

Zahrah Mahmood is one of the newest members of our ambassador club. Zahrah works to increase diversity in the outdoors through her page @the_hillwalking_hijabi and we’re so proud to have her on our team.

Femke heads up our sample room which means she develops our gear and works up samples for testing. Every day, she turns ideas into reality by building kit we can test, review, improve and eventually build. Femke makes sure we keep building better and keep doing better

Our Senior Designer Kate leads our design team and keeps us right with making sure we’re putting women at the centre of our designs. Her most recent (master)pieces include the Combust and the Nula which are serious pieces of kit with flattery and function built right in.

Thanks to these women, our Berghaus products can be made with women and not for women, and continue to lead by example in our industry, educating and clearing the path for all women to walk, hike, climb and explore.
